The Weekend Starts Early!
The long Bank Holiday weekend started early for me on Friday as I was in London for 12 o’clock! I met up with some arty friends who I hadn’t seen for ages and it was lovely to see them.
Made London Fair
My chums and I went into the Made London design and craft fair in Bloomsbury. Not only were there loads of amazing crafts and designs to see but Mary Ward House itself was a beautiful Arts and Crafts building. Among my favourite exhibitors were Libby Ward and her jewellery combining unusual materials and Ulli Kaiser who made incredible pieces from antique beads and found objects to form jewellery with unique stories to tell. Ikuko Iwamoto’s textured ceramics were lots of fun too.
After spending ages looking around the fair, we popped into the Wellcome Collection which is a fascinating museum and gallery with a kind of Art and Science mash- up!
Children’s Arty Crafty Classes.
We made our own playdough in Arty Crafty Classes on Saturday and the children enjoyed choosing colours, smells and glitter to add. It’s a very easy no cook recipe from The Imagination Tree only I halved the recipe. The best place I have found to buy a decent amount of cream of tartar is at Waitrose where it comes in a tub not in a fiddly packet!!
Next week we’ll be experimenting with bleeding tissue paper and crepe paper and resists! Should be fun!
