It was lovely to be beside the seaside at Walton the other weekend- finally Summer is here! It was super to have a paddle, pootle around the shops and eat ice cream. Also enjoyed going on the 2p arcade machines and we got enough tickets to get a Star Wars mug!
Recently in the world of arts and crafts we’ve been up to all sorts. My Kids Crafternoons have finished and here’s a few images of what was made over the holidays. There’s some really lovely pieces of work here and everyone enjoyed themselves.
Vintage Finds & Other News
In other news I have some new storage which is much better than keep having to unload about six boxes to get to the bottom one! I was trying to get organised ready for my Retro & Vintage Sale next Saturday..
I also finished an audio visual presentation of the sculpture exhibition I had some work in. Hopefully you can click on the link and it will show you a taster of the exhibition..
I’m parting with some of the fabric that I know I’ll never use! I’ll also have retro homewares, vintage clothes and vintage inspired crafts for sale. 10% of everything I sell on the 13th of August will go to Dementia U.K. Pop in if you can!
More vintage finds this week- a lovely ‘Pixie’ suitcase and some 70’s children’s books. Does anyone else remember Barnaby the Bear? I remember a cute little bear twirling around in a forest on T.V.- I’d forgotten all about that character. The Camberwick Green book has some fab bright illustrations too.
I’ve been busy as usual this week- a new crochet hexagon for the Wednesday class and getting ready for the Creative Classes for Kids on Saturday.
The classes went well and I had a few people enquire about Arty Crafty Parties for kids too – details of which will appear on this site as soon as I sorted the finer details! The children enjoyed getting messy and making press prints this week. A different kind of printing next week- making block prints.
There are some changes afoot to my evening classes for adults….I’m going to be running monthly craft workshops on a Wednesday evening instead of the 7 to 7.55pm classes. Don’t worry core crafters- the 8 to 8.55 class is unchanged!
The first workshop will be on the 10th of February from 5.15pm to 7.30pm and it’s needle felting. Most folks who’ve tried it think it’s quite therapeutic stabbing pieces of wool to mesh it into a solid shape! The £25 includes all materials, teas and biscuits. Come and try it out!
Feels like I’ve hardly spent any time in the studio this week! Still I did manage to get another hexagon made and the pattern written for my crochet classes, did some book work and started some more Valentines projects. Not too bad really!
Found time to go for a walk in the snow this morning – wow it was chilly! Good job I have plenty of wool though to crochet something warm. Mmm just need to find some time..!
Looking forward to starting art and craft classes for children on Saturday too. Sign up soon if you’d like to book a place for your creative critters!
I can’t believe we’re ten days into January already!! Where did the time go? And I still have mince pies in the freezer!
Craft classes have started up again and it’s nice to see crafters new and old back in the studio.
I’ve been quite busy in the studio- taking the hem down on some curtains, making a few bits n bobs, preparing for this term’s classes and I made some funky Valentines felt necklaces. I hope to run a workshop on how to make these kitsch pieces in readiness for Valentines Day. Drop me a line if you’re interested! I photographed them on some new fabric which I bought at the weekend- I was very restrained really!
I popped into a lovely yarn shop in Braintree too- Sconch (www.sconch.com) and bought some cute mini snips in the shape of a kitten..
A reminder that Arty Crafty Kids Classes are starting on the 23rd of January so book your places soon.
Only five more sleeps to go until Christmas day! I’m kind of ready and have certainly started on the mince pies!
Thank you to those that popped in and visited the Studio yesterday- I’ll be open again on Wednesday so if you missed out there’s still time to get some last minute gifts and retro party outfits! You could also buy a raffle ticket for this fabulous wreath I crocheted and the proceeds are going to Dementia UK.
I’m starting Arty Crafty Kids Club in January and note the correct morning session times!
They are due to start on the 23rd of January
Adult classes start up again on the 6th of January.
