Dry and Cosy!

It was lovely to be working in my dry and cosy studio after Saturday’s soggy performance at the Bishop’s Stortford Farmer’s Market! I enjoyed arranging the new Christmas tree and decorations which look lovely.

I’ve not had too much time this week to do a lot of making, but did make this cute little tea cosy from some of my favourite fabric at the moment. I’ll be sad when the fabric runs out!

It was great to have some visitors to the studio too and thank you for the positive comments!

Book soon for the Christmas Workshop!blue cosy2

A Soggy Day in Stortford!

The weather forecast wasn’t great for the Farmer’s and Craft Market in Bishop’s Stortford and it was at least accurate!

I managed to hang on to my handcrafted gifts in the wind and rain and things did improve when we got an extra tarpaulin!! Well done those brave customers who ventured out and bought some of my Christmas decorations. I bought a new wooden Christmas tree to put them on in my studio and they look good- still a bit early to go decoration mad though!

Here’s the latest tea cosy I made this week- from old embroidered chair slips and napkins. Very pretty I think.

Classes are on  as usual on Wednesday and the studio will be open all day too. NO FRIDAY CLASS THIS WEEK!

Just a reminder that I’m running a Christmas Craft Workshop on Monday the 23rd of December. Look forward to seeing you there!

It’s always lovely to do a vintage fair in Hertford and it went really well – I parted company with a lot of lovely clothes and only purchased a small piece of fabric for myself!! It’s less lovely to unpack everything again – had a bit of a re-arrange of the studio though and have about  two feet more space!

Going to have to pack different things for Saturday’s Farmer’s Craft Market- including Christmas decorations that I’ve been making.

Craft classes are on this week and many will have a Christmas theme…

I’m going to be running some Christmas Craft Workshops in the studio too. The one will be on Monday 23rd of November 6.30 to 9pm. Learn how to make origami Christmas cards and decorations and a festive tissue paper wreath. Cost will be £25 and includes, tea, coffee and mince pies of course!

If there’s lots of demand I’ll run the workshop on Saturday the 21st of November too. Let me know asap!

Memories are made of this..

I had a wonderful time at the Warner Textile Archive on Friday with Alison Stockmarr making memory textile postcards. I learnt a few new techniques including how to apply gold leaf to image transfers, crush velvet with beautiful patterns and using heat transfer images onto gauzy materials. It was lovely to be working amongst other arty crafty folks too. Here’s the result- not bad!

Craft classes should be back to normal this week- Applique, Tunisian Crochet and Crochet. I’ll also be getting ready for the Bishop’s Stortford Farmers and Crafts Market on Saturday (9am to 1.30pm).Pop in and say hello- it’s British Food Festival too- yummy!

Further Artiness!

Spent a large part of the weekend in Ivan Daggett’s studio carrying on with some sculpture work. Making one of the textiles below helped me think of some ideas on how to finish another project. Some inspiration for the sewing came from Art in Action and the piece may turn out to be one of a smallHope Textile 1 Hope Textile 2 series..

Art in Action!

Back from a very inspiring visit to Art In Action near Oxford and got loads of inspiration for more projects as well as catching up with my talented arty friend Juliette from www.julietteodesigns.co.uk.

This Week’s Makes.

I got a lot more done this week in the studio- including giving the sewing machine a good clean! An important job if you want to keep it ticking over nicely!

I finished a couple of fish brooches and another small tea cozy. Some of my students finished their brooches too and look rather pleased with themselves! Gold stars all round!

There’s no craft class this Friday as I’ll be coming back from Art in Action. (www.artinaction.org.uk)

Scorchio!

Haven’t as busy in the studio this week as I’d like to – too hot! Popped out and bought a fan which has helped a lot though. Thanks to the crafters who came and coped with the heat on the hottest day of the year!

Bought some of the beautiful roses from our garden inside- it’s a shame you can’t smell them too!!20150704_171629
